Trash, semi-trash or chemical?
It comes down to what is in the water.
- Trash pumps pass the largest solids - mud, sludge, leaves and debris - and are what you want for dirty dewatering.
- Semi-trash pumps handle sand, silt and small solids in otherwise reasonably clean water.
- Chemical pumps use wetted materials suited to liquid fertilizer and chemical transfer rather than plain water.
What size pump do I need?
Pump size is set by how fast you need the water moved and how far you need to lift and push it. Tell us the gallons per minute, the vertical lift, the hose run and the largest solid the pump has to pass, and we will match the model.
Does the discharge hose size matter?
Yes. A hose smaller than the pump port throttles the flow, and a long run adds friction loss that reduces output further. Keep the hose at least the port size and keep the run as short and straight as you can.
Can a trash pump run dry?
No. Running dry destroys the seal. Prime the pump before starting and keep the suction submerged. If the source can run low, watch it or fit a level control.
What do you need from me to quote a machine?
Send the model number if you have one. If you do not, tell us the application, the surface or material, whether you need hot or cold water, the power source available (gas, diesel, single-phase, three-phase), and the delivery destination.
