• Axial – the default. High volume at low static pressure, 8″ and 12″, metal or plastic, AC or DC.
• Centrifugal – higher static pressure, for long duct runs, bends and restrictions that stall an axial.
• Venturi – no motor and no electrics at the hole; compressed air does the work.
• Pneumatic – air-motor driven, for areas where an electric blower is not permitted.
• Inline boosters – added mid-run to recover pressure lost over long duct.
• Ducting and air bags – statically conductive and standard duct, connectors, reducers and inflatable duct for awkward spaces.
• Fans – high-output portable air movers and carpet dryers for general site use.

Axial moves more air; centrifugal pushes it further.

An axial blower is the right default for a straight, short duct run – a manhole or a vault directly below. Add duct length, bends or a reducer and the static pressure rises until an axial stalls and stops delivering.

Centrifugal holds its output against that resistance, which is what makes it the answer for long runs, multiple bends, or pushing through a restricted opening.

Enough air changes, delivered where the work actually is – and that is a calculation off the space's volume, not a blower model picked from a page.

The duct has to reach the bottom or the far end. Blowing at the opening ventilates the opening and leaves the work area untouched, which is the most common way a correctly sized blower still fails to do its job.

Wherever a flammable or explosive atmosphere is possible, yes. Moving air generates static, and plain duct has no path to ground.

Statically conductive duct carries a grounding wire through the wall and bonds to the blower. It only works if it is actually bonded, so the grounding path matters as much as the duct.

Where electrics are not permitted at all, a venturi or pneumatic blower removes the question – there is no motor to classify.
